Where has the time gone? I can't believe I've gone more than a week without posting. It's so unlike me not to have anything to say! Wait, who am I kidding? I have a billion things to say; I just have no time!
Our engagement party was last Saturday. It was so much fun! Tyler and I really are so lucky to have so many people that care about us. Both Tyler's and my parents worked so hard to make it a great night. We couldn't be more thankful! We appreciate everyone coming by to celebrate with us and show your support.
One of the highlights of the night for me was officially asking my three best friends and two out of three of my future sisters (Emily had a volleyball tournament in Michigan. We so wish she could've been there, but knowing she had to miss it, I asked her earlier last week!) to be my bridesmaids. I printed little cards asking them to do all the traditional bridesmaids duties:
Will you keep me from crying? Will you keep me from being a bridezilla? Will you hold my dress while I pee? (Okay, maybe not traditional duties... But important ones!) The last line said, "Will you help me tie the knot?" and then they each opened their gift...
I bought these infinity rings from Esteverde on Etsy. When I placed my order, I noted what sizes I needed. They came in just a few days, they were true to size and included were inserts that said, "infinite friendship." If you're looking for a cute gift for your bridesmaids, I would definitely recommend checking them out! This was my first purchase from Esty, and it will definitely not be my last. I was so pleased!
Oh, and they all said yes! My maid of honor is my best friend Liz, my bridesmaids are my cousin/best friend Stacy, my best friend Joelle, and my three future sisters, Kelly, Renee and Emily. I am so excited to share this special part of my life with them!
The next few items on my wedding to-do list:
1. Decide on a band or a DJ
2. Go dress shopping (scheduled for October 21!)
3. Pick my colors
4. Sign up for a pre-cana class (there is one Nov. 10 at the Newman Center)
5. Decide on a honeymoon location
I put Tyler in charge of #5. We are struggling to decide on a location because August is prime hurricane season. We are both planners and the thought that our honeymoon could be put on hold at the last minute because of the weather puts us both on edge. So, we are thinking that Caribbean is out. That sounds like a good excuse to make my lifelong dream of going to Cabo San Lucas come true. :)
I am so full of excitement on a daily basis! I am the happiest, luckiest girl. Thank you to all of my friends and family, especially my mom, for doing so much to help me get plans in motion while keeping my sanity! I love you all and I am so thankful for you every day!
What are some great destinations for honeymooners? What are your thoughts on band vs. DJ?
